Position Title: Finance Assistant
Location: Kano State
Reports to: Finance and Admin Officer
Duration: One year, renewable based on performance and funding

Background
RAHAMA is a youth-led nonprofit organization committed to empowering adolescent girls and young people in Northern Nigeria by improving access to education, sexual and reproductive health, and protection services. RAHAMA implements community-based interventions and advocacy to break down social, cultural, and systemic barriers affecting girls and marginalized groups.
As part of our continued growth and to strengthen our financial management systems, RAHAMA is seeking a qualified Finance Assistant to support day-to-day finance and administrative operations.
Objective of the Role
The Finance Assistant will support the Finance and Admin department in maintaining transparent, timely, and accurate financial records for project implementation. The role includes budget monitoring, documentation, reporting, and compliance with both internal policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Record daily financial transactions and ensure accurate posting into accounting systems.
Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records (invoices, receipts, etc.).
Prepare payment vouchers and ensure all supporting documentation is attached and complete.
Support staff reimbursements, advance retirements, and petty cash disbursement.
Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and contribute to the preparation of monthly financial reports.
Track budget expenditures against project activities and flag any discrepancies.
Ensure adherence to RAHAMA’s financial policies and donor compliance standards.
Assist in preparing for audits and financial reviews.
Provide support in procurement processes and inventory documentation.
Perform other finance and administrative tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role, preferably within an NGO.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or equivalent).
Knowledge of financial regulations, donor compliance, and budget management.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently under pressure.
Deliverables
Accurate and timely financial records and reports.
Well-documented and reconciled expenditure files.
Clear audit trails for all financial transactions.
Monthly financial updates submitted to the Finance Officer.
Support in successful completion of internal and external audits.
Reporting Line
The Finance Assistant will report directly to the Finance and Admin Officer, and work closely with project staff, admin teams, and program managers as needed.
Working Conditions
This role is based in Kano State, with occasional travel within project LGAs or States if required.
Standard working hours apply, with flexibility during peak reporting periods.
