Desk Review for the ASCENT DR-TB Project

Today, Rahama Girl Child And Women Empowerment Initiative supported the desk review of the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Program and the WHO Guidelines on Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis at the Kano State TB Situation Room with the Kano State TBLCP and Partners. 

This initiative forms part of the Ascent DR TB Project, supported by Treatment Action Group (TAG) , it aims to improve access to shorter, safer and more effective drug resistant treatment regimens through community led approach and policy advocacy. 

As we strive to eradicate TB by 2030, the Project will support the TBLCP in creating awareness, strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers and advocate for the scale up BPaL/M regimen in Nigeria.

 We successfully engaged the community members of Kwarin Barka in Kano State. This is part of the social awareness project for GBV and SRH. These girls and women were engaged on the need to serve as advocates in their respective communities, providing access to adequate information, resources and referrals.  Together we can advocate against GBV and provide access to information on SRH.
