Together, We Took Charge of Our Health

There are moments when a community comes together and something truly powerful happens. Our recent health fair was one of those moments—a day filled with courage, awareness, and connection.


Because of this collective effort, lives were touched in meaningful ways. Fifty-one people now know their HIV status. One hundred and one received their genotype results. Ninety-five discovered their blood group. Seventy-one were screened for tuberculosis. Behind each of these numbers is a person who left the fair with knowledge that can shape their future and help them make informed choices about their health.


But the fair was more than tests and screenings. It was also about growth, connection, and community strength. Twenty-three local vendors filled the space with energy and innovation, showcasing their businesses and reminding us that health and economic empowerment go hand in hand.



What stood out most was the spirit of togetherness. It wasn’t just about services provided or stalls set up—it was about the people who showed up with open hearts and the determination to make a difference. The laughter, conversations, and shared learning turned the day into a celebration of what can be achieved when we come together with one purpose: building a healthier tomorrow.


To every community member who participated, every partner who supported, and every vendor who showcased their work—thank you. Your presence turned an ordinary day into something extraordinary. This is only the beginning, and together, we will continue to create spaces where health, empowerment, and community thrive side by side.

1. Background RAHAMA is implementing a community-led health promotion initiative to identify and respond to pressing health challenges, improve awareness, and guide targeted referral support. As part of the initial phase, RAHAMA will deploy a mixed methods data collection approach to gain insights into community health priorities, knowledge gaps, and service delivery barriers. 2.
