Disability ≠ Inability: Hauwa’s Story of Strength and Faith

At RAHAMA, we celebrate the voices of those who inspire change, resilience, and hope. Today, we are proud to share the story of Hauwa Uwaisu Abdulhameed (Jiddah’s Delicacy), a remarkable woman living with a disability who continues to break barriers and redefine what it means to be capable.

Hauwa’s journey is a testament to courage, determination, and faith. She has never allowed her disability to limit her ambitions, with an NCE qualification in English and Geography, she has pursued her passion for education and is currently an educator at an Islamiyya school. Beyond her professional achievements, Hauwa is also a small business owner, working tirelessly to support herself and live independently.
For Hauwa, disability has never equaled inability. “Being disabled does not make you less capable, less ambitious, or less valuable,” she shares. Her story reflects the power of perseverance and the importance of a supportive network. She credits her parents for their unwavering love, her siblings for their constant encouragement, her teachers for believing in her potential, and her friends for reminding her of her strength.
To others living with disabilities, Hauwa has a clear and inspiring message: there is nothing you cannot do, and nothing you cannot become. She encourages everyone to believe in themselves, trust in Allah, and never stop striving toward their dreams.
Hauwa’s journey is not only a personal triumph but also a powerful reminder to all of us: disability is not inability. Strength, faith, and determination know no limits.
