Why Peer Support Matters

Adherence to DR-TB treatment can be challenging, but with your support, patients can feel encouraged, empowered, and motivated to stay on track with their medication. Your lived experience, empathy, and understanding can transform the journey of someone battling DR-TB.


What You'll Do

1. Provide emotional and motivational support to DR-TB patients.

2. Encourage adherence to treatment plans through regular follow-ups.

3. Share knowledge about managing side effects and the importance of completing treatment.

4. Serve as a role model by demonstrating the possibility of recovery.


Who Can Apply?

We are looking for individuals who:


1. Have successfully completed DR-TB treatment or have a personal connection to TB care.

2. Are passionate about supporting others in their health journey.

3. Have good communication and interpersonal skills.

Have an understanding of the healthcare system.

4. Are available to attend OPD clinic sessions monthly and conduct bi-weekly home visits.

5. Be a resident of one of the Cluster LGAs in Kano State

 We successfully engaged the community members of Kwarin Barka in Kano State. This is part of the social awareness project for GBV and SRH. These girls and women were engaged on the need to serve as advocates in their respective communities, providing access to adequate information, resources and referrals.  Together we can advocate against GBV and provide access to information on SRH.
