Dissemination Meeting of Community Based Assessment on 1HP Short-Course Preventive Therapy

We held a Stakeholder Engagement Meeting on Saturday, the 29th of June at Tahir Guest Palace Kano to disseminate findings from the Community Based Assessment to understand the perception of people on 1HP Tuberculosis Short-Course Preventive Therapy.


This is a major milestone for the 1HP project, with over 2,000 households visited within the 8 high burden LGAs of Kano State, the findings and recommendations from the communities is expected to guide Government and Partners in improving the uptake of 1HP and other health services in the State.

With the support of Government and Partners, 11 action items were developed during the group sessions to ensure the streamlining of efforts with the bottom line of improving health care services for the communities. 

The event had in attendance the representatives from Society for Family Health, Nigeria, KN State Ministry of Health KNCV Nigeria Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria @NEPWHAN, Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board, State TB and Leprosy Control Program, Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS, Abubakar Rimi Television, Freedom Radio Nigeria other Partners and Stakeholders.

Community Engagement

 We successfully engaged the community members of Kwarin Barka in Kano State. This is part of the social awareness project for GBV and SRH. These girls and women were engaged on the need to serve as advocates in their respective communities, providing access to adequate information, resources and referrals.  Together we can advocate against GBV and provide access to information on SRH.

Annual Visitation

  We visited Kano Remand Home today as part of our annual visitations. We met and conversed with male juvenile offenders remanded for different offences.There are presently no female juvenile offenders at the home, some of them were recently transferred to Prisons and others released.  Some of their needs at the home include; drugs, brooms, detergents, food materials and vegetables etc. Thank you all for your donations and contributions.
