About the 1HP Project

 "We are committed to ensuring every household is informed and has access to 1HP ( a tuberculosis short course preventive therapy) which will enhance patient adherence and reduce TB burden in Nigeria."

The objectives of the Project are:

  • To assess the perceptions of all at risk-populations, household contacts and eligible population on the acceptability of 1HP by December 2024
  • To strengthen the knowledge levels of communities and other TB champions on a community led approach of 1HP in high burden LGAs of Kano state.
  • To create Community demand for 1HP among at risk-population and household contacts at the State level.
  • To advocate for a scaled up and sustained 1HP through mobilization of stakeholders at the state level.
Funded by Treatment Action Group (TAG), the Project Goal is to to build community demand as well as assess acceptability for a 1HP-based TPT regimen among all eligible populations by leveraging the existing community structures, stakeholders, and healthcare services in Kano State of Nigeria by December 2024

Community Engagement

 We successfully engaged the community members of Kwarin Barka in Kano State. This is part of the social awareness project for GBV and SRH. These girls and women were engaged on the need to serve as advocates in their respective communities, providing access to adequate information, resources and referrals.  Together we can advocate against GBV and provide access to information on SRH.

Annual Visitation

  We visited Kano Remand Home today as part of our annual visitations. We met and conversed with male juvenile offenders remanded for different offences.There are presently no female juvenile offenders at the home, some of them were recently transferred to Prisons and others released.  Some of their needs at the home include; drugs, brooms, detergents, food materials and vegetables etc. Thank you all for your donations and contributions.
